difficult 9-mile loop with a 1,100-foot gain going out and a 600-foot gain

Hike, Hiking the Harpers Ferry Tri-State. Based on PATC Map #7, this is an
extreme 12-mile, circuit hike with portions in three states; VA, WV, and MD with
an elevation change of 2,380 feet. We will begin on the Appalachian Trail, then
traverse Loudoun Heights, cross the Potomac on the RT 340 bridge, follow the C&O
canal to the Maryland Heights trail and wind up passing through the historical
town of Harpers Ferry. Beautiful views from all trails. Details to be added.
