Loop, Circuit, and Point-to-Point:
A loop hike is one where you hike out and back along the same trail. A circuit hike begins and ends at the same point, but you generally are not retracing your steps. A point-to-point hike starts at one point, ends at another point, and almost always requires some form of a shuttle of vehicles or people.
